Wishing an Escape

Sometimes I wish I could escape
to a world in a post-card picture
Those palm trees and sandy beaches
sure looks inviting
sure looks otherworldly.

I could lean my shoulder on the wall
I will sink into a new world

It’s too cold here
It’s too harsh
It’s not too nice.

The gutter is all over the floor
someone ugly has kicked the garbage can
now the room smells of filth
and the air reeks in pain.

So I will sink into a wall
and appear in a new world
where there is warmth
I can lean against the warm breeze
dig my toes into the sand
the ocean glimmer like stars.

The sun can sink into my bones
and deeper into my pores
and start a metamorphosis
I will turn into rays
all this hurt won’t matter.
